Port Blair, April 7: In continuation of the intensive drive, the Police teams of South Andaman District Police are continuously making all possible efforts to curb down the menace of illegal sale of illicit liquor, contraband drugs and violation of Model Code of Conduct in their concerned jurisdictions.

During the period of 16th March, 2024 to 07th April, 2024, a total of 101 Excise cases were registered in different Police Stations of South Andaman District leading to the arrest of 101 persons. A total of 304.27 litres of IMFL, 317.98 Kgs of Handia & 24 Ltrs of illicit liquor were seized. Additionally, cash amounting to Rs. 21,83,950 was seized for violation of the MCC under the jurisdiction of Police Station Aberdeen, Pahargaon, Chatham & Humfrygunj. Further, regular jungle searches are being conducted and 300 liters of lehan were recovered and destroyed. Apart from this, during regular search police also seized 48 kgs Venison meat, 9.3 kgs Wild Boar meat and 8.7 kgs of turtle meat. The seized wildlife protected species meats were handed over to Forest officials for taking further necessary action.

The South Andaman District Police is taking all possible steps to make this district free from bootlegging, drug peddling and other anti-social activities and keeping strict vigil over bootleggers, drug peddlers and violators of MCC. General Public is requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, violation of MCC, gambling or any other illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 100,112 and 03192-236641. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
