Port Blair, April 30: It is a proud moment for the islanders, as Smti. M Alamelu, HGC, who is attached to the APCCF (CRZ & FC) Van Sadan, Haddo office, is the first female arbiter from these islands to be awarded the prestigious FIDE Arbiter Title. Her FIDE Arbiter Title was recognised by the International Chess Federation during the 1st FIDE Council 2024, which took place from 8-12 April 2024, and her FA title certificate was awarded today.

After being qualified as Senior National Arbiter in May 2023, M. Alamelu has successfully fulfilled all the required FA norms by performing as Senior National Arbiter (SNA) in at least three different formats of rating tournaments in India, thus fulfilling the FIDE Arbiter title.

Meanwhile, the Andaman and Nicobar Chess Community congratulates her for this outstanding achievement and conveyed best wishes for all her future tournaments as a FIDE Arbiter.
