SBI Foundation invites youth for the fellowship program in rural development

Port Blair, May 9: SBI Youth for India (YFI) program is facilitating rural development by collaborating urban educated youth with communities at the grassroots. SBI YFI works on 12 thematic areas such as Health, Rural Livelihood, Food Security, Environmental Protection, Education, Water, Technology, Women’s Empowerment, Self-Governance, Social Entrepreneurship, Traditional Craft and Alternate Energy to drive impactful interventions with the youth who join them as Fellows. Among the 550+ YFI alumni driving impact with their interventions in the social development sector, Port Blair-based Sunita Das led a project focused on empowering community institutions for sustainable forest management. Assigned to the village of Som in the Jhadol Block by Seva Mandir, Udaipur District, Rajasthan, she addressed the village's needs. She established a Forest Protection Committee and involved youth, women, and villagers in plantation management. Additionally, she oversaw the transformation of four government schools into Green Schools through the planting of 100 fruit saplings each.

SBI Youth for India provides a ready platform to the urban educated youth with the right skill set and education to produce unique solutions to challenging situations and foster sustainable, inclusive and resilient growth at the grassroots level of the country. These result in building capacity and empowering local communities to take ownership of development initiatives. The SBI YFI through its various youth-led interventions has impacted over 150,000 lives in 250+ villages across 20 states in the country over more than 10 years. It is currently accepting applications for the 12th batch of YFI through www.youthforindia.org/register in its pursuit to place informed women and men to facilitate development planning at the village level and enable the linking of plans with available resources.
