Port Blair, June 28: A delegation of State Part Time Teachers Education Employees Association (SPTEEA) led by the PCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma today called on the Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh at Raj Niwas and requested for their reappointing in the Education Department. These part-time teachers, part-time Ayahs, Malis, Sweepers, Chowkidars etc. had been working in the Education department for the last several years. They requested the Lt Governor that after the termination of their services they were faced with financial hardship and were unable to even shoulder the responsibilities of their families.

Meanwhile Delegations of Craft Instructors, Physical Education Teachers (PET) engaged under SSA and left-out Contract teachers led by the PCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma also called on the Lt Governor. The Craft Instructors delegation requested the Lt Governor for engaging them in the Education department. The PET delegation engaged under SSA requested for enhancing their salary amount at par with other teachers engaged in the SSA while the left-out Contract teachers delegation requested for their reappointing as regular teachers in the Education department.  

A delegation of Port Management Board (PMB) also led by the PCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma called on the Lt Governor today and requested for maintaining the current status of Govt. employees working in PMB in the event of creation of a Maritime Board. They mentioned that once the PMB is transformed into Maritime Board, it will become an Autonomous Body and they would be deprived of the benefits of Govt. employees.

The Lt Governor assured them that the administration will extend all possible help to them.
