Port Blair, July 1: The Valedictory function of a Film Making Workshop was held at Science Centre on 30th June 2013. The workshop was organized by INTACH Andaman Chapter in association with Andaman Film Society with support from Science Centre, A & N Admin. The Chief Guest was Shri. K.K. Jindal, IAS, Secretary, Labour and CEO Zilla Parishad, and the Guest of Honour Shri. Lucas Robert, Director, Art & Culture, A & N Administration.

The Chief Guest Shri. K. K. Jindal in his address mentioned that such workshops are a welcome step in the development of the islands and that the Andaman Film Society has approached him for support in screening films in rural areas and the inter islands. He further added the need to make documentaries on biodiversity and cultural heritage.

The welcome address was given by Samhita Veda Acharya, Secretary, Andaman Film Society. Shri. Ranjan Das and Shri. Viplav Shinde shared their experience here in Andamans and encouraged budding film makers to take up movie making as a profession creating an industry of film making in the Islands.

The participants of this first film making workshop by Andaman Film Society were Miss. Sneha (the only female participant), Master Snehesh Dinesh, Master Ashish Isaac, Mr. Saurabh Saroop, Mr. C. Ajay Kumar, Mr. Dora Babu, Mr. Ragu Balan, Mr. Murly Krishna and Mr. Ehtesham Ahmed Khan.

Certificates to participants were given by Shri. K. K. Jindal, IAS, Shri. Lucas Robert, Mr. Tanveer Singh, Shri. N. Mohan, Curator, Science Centre, Director, Sea Princess Resort, and Shri. Naresh Chander Lal, Film Maker.

A short film made by the participants of the workshop was screened which had Smti. Geetanjali Acharya, Veteran Theatre and Radio Artist as the lead actress.

The vote of thanks especially towards the Directors was proposed by Shri. Lucas Robert, Director, Art & Culture, and a speech on experiences as a participant was delivered by Master Snehesh Dinesh.
