Campbell Bay, March 10: A four day multispeciality medical camp with medical specialists from INHS Dhanvantari was organised with local support from civil health authorities at Car Nicobar and Campbell bay. The camp was conducted for ex-servicemen on 28 Feb 13 at Car Nicobar and on 2nd March 2013 at MI Room INS Baaz respectively.  The camp was open to general public on 1st March at BJR hospital Car Nicobar and 3rd March 2013 at PHC Campbell Bay respectively.  

A total of 624 patients were examined that included children, pregnant ladies, patients with chronic problems like diabetes and hypertension and others. ENT check-up and expert advice of child specialist was also made readily available to the local public on the spot. Ultrasound scanning was done at the location by the radiologist and along with antenatal scans, few serious and treatable conditions were also diagnosed. Cases were also referred to GB Pant hospital and INHS Dhanvantari, Port Blair for follow up.

INHS Dhanvantari in conjunction with Director Health Services has been carrying out such medical and multispeciality health camps frequently as a part of its Community Outreach Programme. Conduct of such camps greatly benefits the veteran population residing in these islands.  Portable ultrasound machine was used in the camp with as many as total 284 ultrasounds were carried out at the doorstep. The medical, ENT and child OPD benefited almost 340 patients with varying lifestyle diseases, especially diabetes and hypertension.
