Port Blair, March 11: A delegation of the Education Department MTS Sub-Committee of the Non-Gazetted Govt.  Officers’ Association led by General Secretary Shri D. Ayyappan met the Director of Education on 7th March, 2013 and discussed various issues relating to the Multi Tasking Staff working in the Education Department.

The delegation of the Association brought to the notice of the Director that  overtime allowance  for the overtime work performed by MTS staff (erstwhile Group D staff) working in the schools and offices of the Education Department, is not being granted to them. The delegation demanded to continue with the promotion channel for the erstwhile Group D staff working in the department. 

It was further urged to the Director of Education to fill up the vacant posts of Peon-cum-Chowkidar, Mali-cum-Sweeper, etc. as the existing employees are over burdened with work in the absence of sufficient staff. 

Expressing its grave concern over the pending cases for compassionate ground appointments, the Association has urged the Director to provide immediate relief to all the applicants in the form of daily-rated appointments or contract appointments till they get appointments on compassionate ground. Timely supply of uniforms, pending cases of MACP, etc. were also discussed in the meeting. 

The Director of Education has assured the Association that the demands will be examined and appropriate action taken immediately. The Assistant Director of Education (Perl), Asst. Director of Edn (Admn), Asst Director of Edn (Planning) and Asst. Director (Admn) were also present in the meeting.

The other members of the delegation of the Association were Shri TS Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary, Shri Yesturatnam, Vice President,  Shri Vellakkannu, Secretary, Edn Deptt MTS Sub-Committee, Shri Maheshwar Rao, Central Executive Committee Member and Shri Lazerus.
