Port Blair, April 19: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has pleaded before the Lt. Governor to regularize the Daily Rated Mazdoors (DRMs) who have been serving under various capacities in the A&N Administration.

In his letter to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands on 18th April 2013, Bishnu stated that he on several occasions had appraised all the Head of Departments under A&N Administration to regularize the persons employed in their respective Departments as DRMs against Clear Vacancies and against Vacancies to be created for particular works. But, the Departments have not initiated necessary action for the same.

He further stated that this has become a great problem for these employees, particularly the persons engaged on Compassionate Grounds against DRMs.

“It is high time for the Administration to consider regularization of such employees as a onetime settlement as have done in the case of Home Guards, Electricity, Supply, Tribal Welfare etc. Government Orders as well as Supreme Court Orders are available for this purposes”, pleaded the MP.

It is a burning problem, as far as the un- employment issue prevailing in the islands are concerned, said Bishnu requesting the LG to direct the concerned authorities to take immediate steps for the regularization of such cases.
