Rangat, April 26: To conquer the menace of illicit ganja in N&M Andaman District, PS Rangat proved their mettle once again by ongoing tough against the drug peddlers.

Based on credible information received, a raiding team led by SI Madhab Halder, SHO, PS Rangat, conducted a raid in the Dashratpur area. The team, which included SI Abdul Sajeed, HC Rushkeswar Rao, PCs Sumitra Halder, Yaswant Rao, Pranab Halder & K.Sameer, along with two independent witnesses, was supervised by Shri. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat.

Port Blair, April 26: On 26/04/2024, on the basis of an intelligence input, one autorickshaw driven by one K. Anandan S/o Shri Karuppaiah, 27 yrs R/o Bengali Club, Aberdeen Bazar which was checked at Bimblitan junction by the team of PS Crime & Economic Offence comprising of Head Constables Sanjay Kujur & Sanjit Madhu and Constables N.Thangaraj & K.Rajendran and 102 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) was recovered. He was possessing, this huge quantity of IMFL without any valid license or documents. Recovered IMFL & auto rickshaw were seized on the spot followed by the arrest of K. Anandan after following due legal procedures.

Port Blair, April 26: The Secretary (Telecom), Ministry of Communications, GoI, Shri Neeraj Mittal will be arriving on a 4 days visit to A&N Islands tomorrow (Apr. 27). During his stay, the Secretary will visit Cable Landing Station at Swaraj Dweep and review the 4G Saturation Project and Mobile coverage at important locations in Swaraj Dweep. He will also visit BBNL GP and 4G Saturation Project at Elephanta Beach, Swaraj Dweep and USOF sites along National Highway. On completion of visit, the Secretary will depart for mainland on May 1, 2024.

Port Blair, April 26: World Malaria Day was observed on April 25 throughout the Islands. As part of the observance, a function was held in the Conference Hall of GSSS Haddo, Port Blair in coordination with the Directorate of Health Services and UT Health Mission on the theme ‘Accelerating the fight against Malaria for a more equitable world’. The Director of Health Services, Dr. Suja Antony was the chief guest while Principal GSSS Haddo, Shri D. P. Chourasia was the guest of honour.

Port Blair, April 26: The Science Centre, located at Goodwill Estate, Corbyn’s Cove Road, Port Blair is organizing ‘Holiday Camp’ for the benefit of the students studying in Class VI to VIII from May 2 to 31, 2024.The training shall be imparted to the participants in various trades/disciplines viz. Aero Modeling, Creative Science, Ship Building, Fun Mathematics, Robotic Science, Model Rocketry, Fun Chemistry & Astronomy &Telescope making. The camp is earmarked weekly for two subjects, during which, the subject will be dealt in detail with hands on experiments. The classes shall be conducted from 9.15 am to 1 pm.
