Port Blair, Jan 21: A meeting of the women working in various establishments and who are members of unions affiliated to CITU was held at Shahed Bhavan, Port Blair on 20th January, 2024. Inaugurating the meeting, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee briefly explained the issues faced by working women in the islands and the steps taken by the CITU to overcome it. He said that women workers are being discriminated in many sectors and asked the women members from the trade unions to voice against the policies which are anti-women in nature.

Port Blair, Jan. 20: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has declared Monday, the 22nd of January, 2024, a Half Day closing (till 2.30 PM) of all Government Offices, Educational Institutions, Autonomous Bodies and Public Sector Undertaking under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration in order to enable employees to participate in the celebrations of ‘The Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya’ on 22nd January, 2024.

Port Blair, Jan. 20: Under the provisions of Rule 4.3 (a) 7 (e) of the Excise Policy & 9 (iv) of the bar guidelines issued by the Administration vide order No. 4192 dated 18/11/2008 respectively, the Competent Authority has ordered that ‘Dry Day’ will be observed on Jan.22 throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in connection with ‘Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya’.

Port Blair, Jan 19: On 19.01.2024, the Andaman and Nicobar Police takes a significant and monumental advancement in strengthening its law enforcement infrastructure with the inauguration of two ground breaking Police Stations: "Cyber Crime Police Station" and "Anti-Narcotics Police Station". The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Admiral D. K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency.
