Port Blair, May 21: The PCC President, Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the issue of 52 persons who were employed in different categories under M/s. Surya Chakra Power Corporation Limited, Bambooflat, South Andaman with the    Commissioner-Cum-Secretary (Power), A&N Administration.  In  his letter  the PCC President  said M/s. SPCL, consequent on completion of the contractual period, have stopped its operation with effect from 1st April, 2018 and with this all the 52 employees of SPCL also become jobless and are facing innumerable financial hardship and mental agony. Further, the employees / workers have also not been paid their wages / salary regularly up to March 2018, bonus for past three years and other services benefits. These poor workers / employees are now facing extreme difficulties for managing their families and facing starvation.

Kuldeep urged the Commissioner-Cum-Secretary (Power) who being the Principal employer to look into the matter and initiate appropriate action against the defaulter M/s SPCL and make arrangement for release of all payments which are due to the workers/employees.

Regarding reemployment of the displaced workers/employees of  M/s. Surya Chakra Power House , Shri Kuldeep, said that   as the agreement between the A&N Administration and M/s SPCL was on BOT basis, now subsequent to  completion of the contractual period, this Power House at Bambooflat has become the property of the A&N Administration and obviously the administration will be requiring manpower for rejuvenation, maintenance and operation of the Bambooflat Power House.   Hence  he opined   that for this purpose the people who were engaged by M/s SPCL   can be  be employed by the A&N Administration as they being very much acquainted with the repairs, maintenance and operation of the said Power House.
