Port Blair, May 21: Port Blair Municipal Council is reeling under scarcity of water for distribution to its consumers due to restricted supply by APWD especially in dry seasons.

In order to assess the ground realities regarding availability of water and to monitor the supply, an inspection of Dhanikhari Dam was carried out by the Secretary, PBMC alongwith Sub Committee for water works and Officials of PBMC and APWD on 19/5/2018.

During the inspection, it was noticed that the water level is pretty low and for the same reason, the APWD is unable to supply to PBMC water at regular intervals.

After inspection, directions were issued to maintain regular supply of water on monitored basis by the APWD as per the availability. The APWD Officials were also requested to issue press notices whenever there is any interruption in water supply or any major repair works which impedes water supply to the PBMC and consequently to the citizens.
