Port Blair, Aug 13: Medical Evacuation of a Shompen Baby suffering from severe acute malnutrition and severe sepsis with respiratory distress was carried out by using an Indian air Force Helicopter on Sunday night. The patient was immediately shifted from Campbell Bay to Carnic Air Base. At Carnic an Air Force Dornier aircraft was used to transfer the patient that arrived at Port Blair at 0120 hrs on 13th August 2018. Subsequently, patient was shifted to the ICU of GB Pant Hospital. 

ANC received the information in the late evening on 12th Aug 2018 when Deputy Director health, A&N Administration informed regarding medical emergency of a 04 month old female child from aboriginal Shompen community at Campbell Bay. He requested for assistance of ANC for evacuation of child patient from Campbell Bay to Port Blair.
