Port Blair, Sept. 18: ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ was observed in Carmel Senior Secondary School, Port Blair from 1st September 2018 to September 15, 2018. Various activities and competitions were organized in this connection. The Pakhwada began with Swachhata Shapath and Principal’s address on cleanliness. The various competitions that were organized are as follows:

Making dustbin out of waste material, Making banners, Making posters and paper bags, Composing poems and writing letters, Sketching water harvesting structures, Speech and painting competition

An exhibition was also organized which featured the creative work done by the children during the Pakhwada. During the morning assembly, talks on “Clean and safe drinking water”, ‘Personal Hygiene’ and “Water Harvesting” were also delivered to create awareness among children.

A cleanliness drive was organized where in the students not only cleaned their classes but also the campus and the areas neighbouring the school. The Pakhwada culminated with the prize distribution ceremony where the winners of various competitions were awarded. 

The Swachhata Pakhwada has definitely instilled and enhanced the importance and benefits of cleanliness sanitation and hygiene in the students.
