Port Blair, Nov. 11: A joint services Search and Rescue (SAR) exercise code named VIMAAN was conducted by Andaman Nicobar Command (ANC) at North Cinque Island on 09 Nov 18. The exercise included search for survivors and liferafts from a simulated aircraft crash, their rescue followed by evacuation. Air assets, ships and men of the Indian Navy, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard operating in an integrated and seamless manner were utilised to locate the survivors at sea and rescue them from the sea/island. The exercise helped to practice and consolidate the SAR drills and procedures. It also gave an opportunity to the forces of ANC to validate interoperability. Successful conduct of the exercise is a true display of jointmanship and showcases the Command’s motto of pursuing 'Victory through Jointness’. 

INS Utkrosh was the nodal agency for conduct of the exercise which concluded with a debrief session for all participants on 10 Nov 18.
