Port Blair, Nov. 12: Vigilance Awareness Week-2018 with the theme  “Eradicate corruption and build India” was organized befittingly in ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair under the overall guidance of Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.

The awareness programme commenced with the pledge ceremony on 29.10.2018.  Numerous programme were conducted like essay writing on the topic “Role of self-discipline to eradicate corruption in Nation” painting competition on the theme “ Clean & Green India” debate on  “Need of the hour to make Nation corruption free” and quiz competition for the staff, school and college students.  Beside a guest lecture on the theme of week was delivered by Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, Senior Administrative of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair for all the staff.

Dr. A. Kundu, Director, CIARI appreciated the conduct of the programme and highlighted the need of high moral standards in public life and participation of all, to eradicate the corruption.

During the valedictory function of the week long programme held on 03-11-18, the Chief Guest,  Shri T.N. Krishna Moorthy, Chief Engineer, ALHW, Port Blair delivered a talk on “Role of RTI in transparency” and thereafter, gave away prizes to the winners of the programmes from schools viz.,  (Carmel & V.K.V, Lambaline), Colleges (ANCOL, Tagore & JNRM) and staff of the Institute.  

The week long programme was organized by Dr. D. Bhattacharya, Vigilance Officer &  coordinated by Organizing Secretary, Dr. T. Sujatha, Co- Organizing Secretary, Shri Amit Srivastava and Coordinators Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Dr. P.K. Singh, Pr. Scientists  Dr. K. Saravanan and Dr. S.K. Ravi, Scientists  of the Institute.
