Port Blair, Feb 13: As a part of its 20th year celebrations, students of Class IX along with the staff of Crescent Public School visited Abbhyuday Complex, Shelter Home for Homeless at Ferrar Gunj on 11th February 2019 and shared time with them, bringing smile and happiness among the inmates and taking memories of a lifetime.

The students conducted cultural and interactive session with the inmates. Shri Mahabal Prasad, a senior inmate of Abbhyuday Complex shared with the students’ experiences of his life. This was followed by a song by C Lubna and group. P K Shaniba of Class IX expressed her feelings. Sneha Sarkar and her group presented a song on the occasion.

The visiting students distributed daily need kit along with exam kits and shared snacks with the students and inmates of Abbhyuday Complex. The infinite smile and joy that the opportunity provided will remain etched in the hearts of the students and inmates. Students learnt the difference it makes and need to spend time and sit with the elderly people and listen to them patiently. 

E. Saira Banu, Principal CPS also interacted with the inmates and appreciated the caretakers for their hard work. Shri MK Abdul Gafoor, Member, Managing Committee, CPS also expressed his views and thanked the incharge of Abbhyuday Complex for giving the opportunity to meet the inmates.

Miss Ragini, Special Educator of Shelter Home briefed about the functioning of the Shelter Home and also their expressed her happiness for creating such moments of joy. 

Earlier, Mrs Sajida Zubair, teacher of CPS welcomed the gathering and gave a brief about the purpose of such visits and the need to understand the world around them, which is quite different from what they learn in a classroom.
