Port Blair, March 19: The Assistant Superintendent of Police, Car Nicobar Ms. Sandhya Swamy, IPS went on a 4 day visit to Nancowrie group of Islands and Katchal to inspect the polling booths and ensure arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of upcoming elections.

She took stock of election preparedness from security point of view, visited 06 polling stations of Nancowrie and 05 polling stations of Kamorta. She enquired about the preparedness for the upcoming election and found them satisfactory, briefed the staff about Do’s & Don’ts, Model Code of Conduct for the General Election, various provisions related to electoral offences in IPC & RP Act and preventive measures needed to curb illicit liquor. 

She also met with the local administration staff for the coordination and ensuring smooth conduct of the election process. On 8th of March ASP/ Car Nicobar also attended a programme organised by Administration in Nancowrie to commemorate International Women’s Day as Guest of Honour, which was also graced by Chief Guest Smt. Ayesha Majid, Chairperson Tribal Council, Nancowrie.
