Port Blair, Jan 28: Carmel Senior Secondary School celebrated the 71st Republic Day with an immense sense of passionate patriotism. Superior Sister Leena Mary who was the chief guest on the occasion, unfurled the flag and addressed the gathering. She stressed upon abiding by the constitution of India that strongly binds the delicate fibre of diverse Indian cultures.

The occasion witnessed great enthusiasm in children as they marched and saluted the Tiranga. Prayer is an integral part of Carmel culture. A prayer service for the wellbeing and peace of the country was held. Children danced and sang with the fiery emotion of India being one of the great democracies in the world. 

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the head boy of the school. The Principal, Sister Hazel addressed the gathering and led the way in chanting "Jai Hind" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai". The breeze in the school echoed with the spirit of "long Live Indian Republic ". As a part of Indian culture sweets were distributed on the occasion. May our Mother India be a free Republic till the sun shines.
