Port Blair, June 4: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has demanded reservation of tickets for the Vegetable vendors in the Inter Islands. In his letter addressed to the Chief Secretary he said that small scale businessmen who are engaged in the business of supplying vegetables to Port Blair are running from pillar to post for the tickets.

The MP said that the demand of vegetables for the people of Port Blair is fulfilled by the vegetables supplied by the Neil Island, Havelock and Hutbay. Every week they used to come to Port Blair with the vegetables they grow. But the sad part is that when they need to go back to Neil Island or to their other respective Island to collect vegetables, they are forced to struggle for tickets at Port Blair. On many occasions they can’t get tickets from the counters at Phoenix bay.

Reiterating his earlier demand Ray asked the Chief Secretary to make the Administration owned boats available for the Islanders exclusively and for the tourists separate boats should be hired.
