Port Blair, Sept. 17: There were media reports about an alleged Ayurvedic Drug ‘Lahari’, manufactured by M/s Shukla Ayurvedic Pharmacy, Khasara no.363, Gram-Limbodi, Khadava main road Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The drug contains scheduled E (1) ingredients (i.e. Cannabis Sativa) which is being misused by school children.

In this context, considering the largest public interest, the Department of Health, Andaman and Nicobar Administration has banned the sale of ‘Lahari’ with immediate effect.

The sale of this Drug within the jurisdiction of Andaman and Nicobar Islands will attract legal action under Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 and rules made there under.

Public is requested to kindly inform the Administration about the sale of this banned drug, so that the legal action can be initiated against the offenders.

The communication has also been sent to Drug Licensing Authority Madhya Pradesh for needful action on the drug.
