Port Blair, July 25: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) conducted the training programme on Value addition of flower crops at farmers’ field in Diglipur on 22.07.2014. About 32 farmers attended the training programme among which 28 were women farmers. The training programme was co-ordinated by the Course Director Dr. V. Baskaran, Senior Scientist, Division of Horticulture and Forestry under the guidance and supervision of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI, Port Blair and Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Scientist-In-Charge, ORC, Diglipur.  The training programme covered the topics like importance and scope of flower crops in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and demonstration done on value addition of flowers like bouquet making and flower arrangement.  The farmers were also involved actively by giving them hands on training in bouquet making and flower arrangement. The farmers were very much interested to grow gerbera, tuberose, Heliconia and roses.
