Port Blair, Nov. 26: The Member of Parliament, Bishnu Pada Ray has raised the issue for up gradation of pay scale and other consequential benefit of Regular Home guard working under the Police dept. A&N Administration before the Hon’ble speaker of Lok Sabha on 25th Nov. 2014.

Bishnu while presenting his argument in the parliament, expressed that as per the verdict of the Hon’ble High Court dated 22/01/2007 which affirmed by the Hon’ble Supreme court in SLP (C) No.10496 of 2007 dated 06/05/2009, the issue of up gradation of pay scale and extending other consequential benefits to the Regular Home Guard from the date of their respective initial engagement are entirely under the purview of UT administration of A & N Islands. There would be hardly around Rupees Five Lakhs payable to each individual for arrear payment. Inspite of that, the administration, instead of implementing the same, referred the matter to the ministry. Thereby delay in getting the deserving benefits for last five years.

Ray further informed the parliament that, he has taken up the matter with administration as well as the ministry on various occasions. Inspite of that the matter is pending since last five years.

While concluding the speech, Bishnu requested that Hon’ble speaker to issue appropriate direction to the administration to consider the demands of 325 Regular Home Guards of Police department in A & N Administration in incompliance to the direction of Hon’ble High Court and Supreme Court as well instead of correspondence with the ministry.
