Port Blair, Sept. 24: For the first time in the islands, Special Olympic Bharat is organising a State Level Special Olympic Sports Meet from 30th Sept. to 2nd Oct. 2012 at Port Blair. The special sports meet is meant for intellectually challenged people above 8 years of age.

Special Olympic is a global movement led by athletes with an intellectual disability who use sports to demonstrate the capabilities of all people and to build inclusive tolerant communities.

The sports meet will be inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, A&N Islands, Shri Anand Prakash on 1st October 2012 at 9.30 am in the Netaji Stadium, Port Blair. Eligible applicants have been requested to contact S. Murugesan (9933247579) and Neeta Agarwal (9679599887) and register their names before 25th Sept. 2012 with complete details and report latest by 29th Sept. 2012 evening.

Students may enrol with Education Department or schools in their respective areas and general public may contact the officials as mentioned. Accommodation, boarding, lodging and ship fare (bunk class to and fro) would be provided to the inter-island participants and one escort. Valid disability certificate from Medical Board has to be produced at the time of reporting.

Those sport persons who are participating from far flung island should report at Netaji Stadium on 30th Sept. 2012 and sports persons from South Andaman district should report at the stadium on 1st Oct. 2012 at 8.00 am.
