Port Blair, Feb 11: The delegation of Andaman & Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM) of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh on the advice of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (DoPT) met Shri. Himanshu Sharma, IAS, Personal Secretary to MoS (DoPT) to present the issues pertaining to working classes of A&N Islands.

The detailed presentation of the matter of regularisation of DRMs was presented by Shri. S. Biju Pillai, General Secretary, ANKRM. The documents of Court verdict and the concurrence of DoPT with the approval of Ministry of Home Affairs. Further, the constitution of Andaman Nicobar Cadre, were also discussed in length.

Rangat, Feb 11: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 11/02/2024, the Rangat Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor at Urmilapur Forest.

Acting promptly on a tip, Inspector R.K. Mazumder, SHO, PS Rangat formed a specialized team consisting of HCs Mohan Rao, Pabitra Sikhari, PCs Pradeep Mathew Topno & K.Mohan. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 120 liters of Lehan, along with containers, various utensils, and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were discreetly hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Port Blair, Feb 11: Invent Public School, Garacharma celebrated its Annual Day "Unleashing Sparkles" 2024 in the presence of Shri M. Nehru (Deputy Director Science) as a chief guest. The celebration was held at Govt. Primary School Garacharma Ground on 8th Feb 2024 with great enthusiasm. Port Blair, Feb 11: To prevent electoral fraud, Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) was introduced by the Election Commission of India in the year 1993 and with passage of time and in view of major advances of technology; the Commission has decided that the quality of cards, security features and other specifications shall be further improved.

In this line, as per the ECI’s instruction new security featured EPIC was introduced in A&N Islands since last Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll - 2023. The new features like in card size, thickness, hologram, Micro text, Ghost image, Guilloche patter, QR code etc. are enhanced in new EPIC cards.
