Car Nicobar, Jan 30: A training program on marine turtle monitoring was organized at Car Nicobar Island from 22-24 January 2024 by ICAR- Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Car Nicobar. The training was funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the STI (Science, Technology, and Innovation) scheme. The training program was primarily meant to generate awareness of the importance of marine turtle nesting habitats and to build baseline information on turtle nesting and foraging habitats in Car Nicobar Island through citizen science initiatives.

Port Blair, Jan 30: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee solemnly observed Martyrs Day (Shaheed Divas) in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi on the 30th of January 2024 at Congress Office, Port Blair.

The ANTCC President, Shri. Rangalal Halder led the observance by garlanding the portrait of Gandhi. Following this, Congress leaders and workers paid floral tributes to the revered leader, honored his legacy of non-violence and remembered his struggle for India's independence.

Port Blair, Jan 30: A Division Bench comprising of Hon'ble Shri Jayesh V. Bhairavia, Judicial Member and Hon'ble Shri Suchitto Kumar Das, Administrative Member of Central Administrative Tribunal Kolkata Bench shall hold Circuit Sitting at Port Blair w.e.f. 05.02.2024 to 16.02.2024 (both days inclusive) to dispose of cases pending in the Court of Hon'ble Central Administrative Tribunal, of Calcutta, Circuit Bench at Port Blair.

Port Blair, Jan 30: The foodgrains shall be distributed in advance for 2 months for February, 2024 & March, 2024 in one go in the entire UT in the month of February, 2024. All the Ration Card holders have been informed that they can purchase the foodgrains as per their entitlement for 2 months in February, 2024.

The subsidized sugar will also be distributed to all NFSA households i.e. PHH & AAY @ 1 Kg per card/per month for twelve (12) months (April, 2023 to March, 2024) in one go @ Rs. 30/- (PHH) & Rs. 15/- (AAY) per kg w.e.f. 1st February 2024 onwards.

Port Blair, Jan 30: The cargo vessel MV Chuglam will sail for Car Nicobar on Feb.2, 2024 at 3 pm from Haddo/Chatham Jetty and will sail back to Port Blair immediately after discharging/loading of Cargo at Car Nicobar. Booking of cargo will commence from Jan.31,2024 onwards between 9 am 1 pm at Commercial Wing, DSS. All the consigners have been requested to adhere to the loading schedule in order to maintain the sailing as promulgated. All the consigners are further advised to book actual quantity of cargo to be transshipped, as no excess cargo will be allowed.
