Port Blair, Jan 25: As a mark of respect to the memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India's freedom, Martyrs' Day will be observed on 30th January, 2024. Silence will be observed on the day for two minutes from 1100 hrs to 1102 hrs and work and movement will be stopped throughout the territory on this day. The silence will be observed with due solemnity.

Sasidharan Pillai, a resident of Betapur, Middle Andaman today (25.01.2024) at Billground Hospital.  He was 75 years.  His last rites will be conducted on 26th January, 2024. He is the elder brother of R. Surendran Pillai, President, CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee.  CPI (M) conveys its heartfelt condolences to the family members of late R. Sasidharan Pillai. 

Port Blair, Jan 25: As part of the Republic Day celebrations in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, ships/vessels of Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and Directorate of Shipping Service (DSS) will be illuminated on 26 Jan 2024 (Republic Day) and 29 Jan 2024 (Beating Retreat) from 1715h to 2100h at anchorage, off the Marina flag post sea front. On both the days, the ships will fire colourful flares and switch on the contour illumination lights approx at around 1718h.
