Port Blair, Feb 8: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands had met with Hon’ble Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smti. Smriti Irani at New Delhi on 05th February, 2021 and appraised her about the hardships facing by the ICDS employees of A&N Administration due to non-release of monthly salaries to the CDPO, Mukhya Sevikas, Senior Investigators, Statistical Assistants since September 2020 and also central share of honorarium to the 720 Anganwadi workers since June 2020 due to which these employees working in the Social Welfare department under A&N Administration are facing acute financial crisis situation day to day life.  

He said that these ICDS employees besides performing their routine duties, they also did commendable jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic, playing key role in helping the UT Administration in tackling and managing the crisis situation  round the clock. 

However, despite performing the job assigned to them, these employees are not getting their admissible salaries/honorarium timely due to none release of fund by the Women & Child Development Ministry.  The Member of Parliament requested the Union Minister to issue specific direction to the concerned officials in the Ministry to release the required fund to the department to enable them to clear the monthly payment of ICDS employees and Anganwadi workers.
