Port Blair, Nov. 30: The Mobile Food Testing Laboratory (MFTL) of Food Safety Department conducts regular visits at various areas of South Andaman District for carrying out analysis of food samples at the door step of general public. During the past  three months about 146 food samples including milk and milk products, drinking water, fishes & other food samples were tested through MFTL and Rs.10350/- has been collected as analysis fee.

In addition to this, the MFTL also conducted awareness programmes and training programmes on safe & hygienic food, good hygiene practices and good manufacturing practices etc. During the past three months, 51 awareness programmes were organized and altogether 536 Food Business Operators (FBOs) and general public attended these programmes. Similarly, 06 training programmes for food manufacturers were conducted with the participation of 94 Nos. of food business employees. Every month the MFTL visits various places as per the monthly schedule programme to carry out the above activities.

The Commissioner Food Safety, A&N Islands/Dy.
