Port Blair, Feb 27: Western Fleet of the Indian Navy is on a visit to Port Blair from 25th to 27th Feb 22. The Western Fleet commanded by Rear Admiral Sameer Saxena, NM, is based in Mumbai.  The visiting Western Fleet ships comprising of Indian Naval ships Talwar, Teg and Brahmaputra, are deployed for area familiarisation and undertaking operations in Andaman & Nicobar Command.

The Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command, Lt Gen Ajai Singh, AVSM, embarked the ships and witnessed operational demonstrations, which included flying operations and combined ships exercises in the Andaman Sea duly synergised with Naval ships of Andaman and Nicobar Command which also participated in the operational manoeuvres. The Ships of ANC and the Western Fleet operated in close coordination demonstrating synergy and interoperability. The manoeuvres in the Andaman Sea further strengthen the capabilities to monitor sea areas and important Sea Lines of Communications (SLOCs) through the Indian Ocean Region and provide a seamless and synergised operational interface with accretional resources of Fleets of the Eastern and Western Naval Commands.
