Port Blair, March 1: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators has requested Chief Secretary Shri. Jitendra Narain get the damaged Pontoon Jetty at RGWS Complex and Floating Jetty at Corbyn’s Cove beach repaired on priority.

RGWSC and Corbyn’s Cove beach are two of the prime locations visited by tourists. A pontoon jetty was provisioned at RGWS complex to felicitate boarding and de-boarding of tourists from IV boats. Unfortunately, the gangway of the jetty has suffered damages, which has rendered the jetty unusable for tourists.

The floating jetty at Corbyn’s Cove beach is used by water sports operators. It allows tourists to board the boats and Jet Ski without getting into the sea, which is a safe practice. However, the jetty has been damaged in the recent cyclone and has broken into 2 pieces. Although the separated pieces have been tied up with rope by the local operators but it is not safe for use by tourists.
