Port Blair, Aug 18: The Department of Food Safety, A&N Administration conducted Food Licensing & Registration drives at Nine (9) places in South Andaman District at Neil Kendra & Bharatpur Beach in Shaheed Dweep, Ferrargunj, Govind Nagar, Elephanta Beach & Radha Nagar in Swaraj Dweep, Shoal Bay No. 14, Junglighat & Buniyadabad. Similarly Five (5) Food Licensing & Registration drives were conducted at Bakutala, Nimbutala,  Nimbudera, Mayabunder & Kalighat in N&M Andaman District.

These drives aims at facilitating the Food Business Operators (FBO) to upload applications for grant/renewal of licenses, modifications in licenses, conversion of Registration Certificates into licenses as per annual turnover of the FBO through online portal https://foscos.fssai.gov.in  and get it delivered at their doorsteps and also to ensure that no food business is operating without a valid FSSAI License/Registration Certificates.

The Food Safety officers detailed the participants about the complete process of uploading applications and the procedures to make modifications in licenses online. Around 496 Nos. new Food Business Operators/Registration Certificate holders were covered in the drives. All queries of FBO’s related to Licence/Registration were cleared by the FSO’s on the spot.

In the month of July, 40 Nos. of drinking water samples were collected from various schools in South Andaman District for surveillance purpose. These samples were tested through NABL accredited and FSSAI notified laboratory. Water samples analysis reports forwarded to the concerned school authorities with the direction to ensure availability of safe & hygienic potable water in every school.

The Commissioner of Food Safety/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has informed all FBOs that FSSAI has made it mandatory to display of FSSAI License/Registration Number on the receipts/invoices/cash memo/bill etc. during the sale of food products w.e.f 1st Jan, 2022. Strict enforcement ensuring compliance with the said direction will be taken by Food Safety Department.
