Port Blair, Oct. 11: The Department of Home Science, JNRM, in association with the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) is organising a Three days “Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP)” for the for the beneficiaries under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). The EDP commenced on 11th October 2022 in Lecture Gallery, JNRM.

Addressing the gatherning at the inaugural function, the Chief Guest Smt. Smitha. R, IAS, Secretary, PBMC  said that the contribution of entrepreneurship is inevitable for the betterment of inclusive society and economic development. The local market is always important for the entrepreneur where they can thrive their potential in product development. She opined that the empowerment of women can be achieved through educational, social, political and economical. This kind of EDP paves the way for the economic empowerment of women through DAY-NULM. 

Dr. H.K. Sharma, Principal, JNRM, informed the gathering that JNRM through its Home Science Department under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan has conducted various skill based entrepreneurship development programme for the rural women in various adopted villages. The entire nation is voicing for Skill India and Make in India which is another phase of entrepreneurship development programme, he added.

Smt. Pearl Devdas, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Geography, JNRM felicitated the organisers for making an effort to organise this programme for the self-employment development in the Islands. She exhorted the participants to make use of the learning through this training programme. 

Dr. K.Venkatesan, HOD, Homescience and Coordinator of the programme spoke about the background of the programme and highlighted the activities carried out by the Home Science Department on Gender and Women Entrepreneurship Development programme. Earlier Smt. Nidhi Shekhawat, Assistant Professor of Home Science welcomed the gathering and Dr. Rekha Kumari, Resource Person, Department of Home Science proposed vote of thanks. Smt. Poonam Singh, Resource Person, Department of Home Science moderated the programme.
