A Courageous & Adventurous Trekking of Highest Peak of A&N Islands - on Promise Day
Port Blair, Feb 12: A courageous trek of 2401 feet to the highest peak of A&N Islands Saddle Peak with a promise of "Being Together" on "Promise Day" 11th Feb 2023 was organised by N&M Andaman District Police under the leadership of Ms Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, especially for women from all walks of life with a message of self-reliance, self-respect & to showcase women empowerment.
Under Swawlamban, an initiative of N&M Andaman district police on women empowerment a trek to "Saddle Peak" the highest peak of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands was accomplished by a group of 60 people mainly women from all walks of society with a message of "Self Reliance" among women and showcase women empowerment.
All the participants which included college girls, teachers, house makers and working women participated with full zeal and vigour and successfully completed the trek with flying colors.
While coming back the trekkers also collected waste material littered around by visitors along the path and handed over to the forest officials for safe disposal. The District Police had a special word of thanks to forest department for providing a guide and for Shri Nilu Mazumdar, Pradhan Shibpur Panchayat for welcoming Ms Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS Superintendent of Police and all the participants.
