Port Blair, March 9: Ms Veditha Reddy, IAS, Secretary, RD & PRI & Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman along with Additional District Magistrate, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Assistant Commissioner (UTs) visited and interacted in the hamlets of Ranchi /Chota Nagpuri communities and PRIs in the Gram Panchayats of Tusnabad, Mithakhari, Namunaghar.

During the visit, the general public raised various issues related to scarcity of Water at Gram Panchayat Tushnabad, Issue of NOC for important development Projects, non-availability of LPG Cylinder and delivery of cylinder at late night in the villages, renovation of Community Hall etc.

At the Gram Panchayat Mithakari, the villagers raised the issue of non-completion of various works though tender was awarded, scarcity of water and non-availability of electricity, and irregular supply of LPG cylinders, katcha road work to be taken under MGNREGA till Ranchi Basthi as well as the Mithakari jetty road, construction of Vegetable Market, bus waiting shed, Community Toilet Blocks, Development of Playground cum Mini Stadium at Ograbraj, Boating house cum guest house along with seashore at Mithakari ward No.1. etc. The Secretary/Deputy Commissioner directed that a meeting may be convened with all the contractors to whom the projects have been awarded and seek clarification on the delay for execution and its completion.

At the Gram Panchayat Namunaghar the issues related to Street Light, non-availability of LPG Cylinder and its delivery at late night hours, Land for Community Hall, Ammba Tikrey Road dispute, non-availability of Playground at Gram Panchayat Namunaghar

At the Gram Panchayat Brindaban, the issues related to scarcity of water, land for Aganwadi near Community Hall etc. were put forth. The PRIs also suggested that the land of Rubber Board and it’s the vacant building may be utilized for multi skill training i.e. Polytechnic Training Center/ITI.

After giving a patient hearing at all the villages, the Secretary/Deputy Commissioner informed that a meeting shall be convened with all the line departments on the issues and special emphasis shall be given on the projects which are to be taken up on priority basis.

The Secretary (RD)/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman also inaugurated the resurfaced rural road constructed under rural road sector at Brindaban village.
