Welcoming the Initiative, PRIs hopeful of achieving zero dropout rate in school

Diglipur, March 28: It was a dream come true for the small children of the remote Parangara secondary school of North Andaman when they saw the children’s park- ‘Muskaan’ being inaugurated today.

Inaugurating the Park, the Deputy Education officer Shri R.P Pandey said that its very pleasing to see the National Education Policy being implemented in true letter and spirit in remote rural areas like Parangara. Elaborating the objectives, he said that prior to age of 5, every child will move to a ‘Preparatory Class’ or ‘Balvatika’ before Grade-I with a focus on developing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities and also early literacy and numeracy. The children would enjoy the play based school preparation module, he hoped. Shri Pandey appreciated the school management saying that it always strives to add new features to the school for making the teaching learning environment more joyful and interesting for the children. 

Expressing her happiness, the Guest of Honour the Pradhan of the Kishori Nagar Gram Panchayat, Smti Reeta Dhali said that the Balvatika would be an attraction for the children and this would definitely control the drop-out rate of the students, which has been a matter of concern in these remote areas. This would put a check over the trend of absenteeism among the students, she said.

The special guest, the Principal of the Subhash Gram Senior Secondary School, Shri M. Nehru said that the team work of the staff under the leadership of the Head Mistress, Smti Kiran Kumari has been giving good results over the years, enabling the children to achieve the learning outcomes.

Today the long awaited IT lab and ICT Lab were also inaugurated at the school. In her address the Head Mistress Smti Kiran Kumari said that with the inception of the IT Lab, the students would get encouraged to opt vocational Education in their secondary classes.

The Senior GTT teacher, Shri Anil Kumar Giri while proposing vote of thanks said that all the interventions defined under Government's Flagship Programme ‘Samagra Shiksha’ are being executed by the school, aiming to provide equitable and inclusive quality Education to the students. 

“This IT Lab would provide opportunity to the students to learn and sharpen the skills of Information and communication technology and this would widen the scope of employability”, said Miss P. Prisca, a young teacher of the school. She informed that the students of the remote villages Paloon, Kala Pahad and Kishori Nagar come to this school after completing their Primary schooling and presently around 29 small children are there in the Pre-Primary classes.
