Port Blair, July 5: In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, A & N Islands, Mr. Halder, ANTCC President has highlighted an issue of significant concern regarding the discontinuation of the earlier existing passenger’s flight service at Car Nicobar Airport.

He stated that the discontinuation of passenger flights has not only inconvenienced the local community but has also hindered economic activities and connectivity with the rest of the country. It is essential for the well-being and progress of the region that regular passenger flights services be resumed promptly.

Considering the unique circumstances and the geographical isolation of the Car Nicobar Islands, Mr. Halder mentioned that the absence of reliable air travel options has imposed severe limitations on the movement of people, affecting essential services, hindered economic activities, disrupted social connections, medical emergencies, educational opportunities, and business operations.

He added that the discontinuation of the passenger flight service has also forced the commuters to rely on alternative, less reliable modes of transportation, which are often time-consuming and physically demanding.

Halder has requested to consider the restarting of earlier existing 60-70 capacity passenger flight services at Car Nicobar Islands to greatly benefit the community, ensuring better connectivity and enhancing the socio-economic growth and prosperity of the Island.
