Port Blair, July 27: D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee accompanied by R. Surendran Pillai, President and SP Kalairajan, Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee met the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration today (27.07.2023) and brought to his notice a number of issues pertaining to the workers working in various departments and unemployed youths.  

Ayyappan discussed with the Chief Secretary about the demand made by him earlier for upper age relaxation for various posts in the Education Department which were advertised during May and June, 2023. Secretary CPI (M) and other leaders submitted before the Chief Secretary that the present recruitment for the posts of PGT and GTT are being carried out after seven years.  It was further brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary that during 2013 and 2016, upper age relaxation of eight years was given to all the candidates who required it and demanded that the same should be followed for the present recruitment also.  

Ayyappan and other leaders brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary the issue of disengagement of daily rated workers and engaging new workers in place of such disengaged workers in the Environment & Forest Department and demanded continuity in service of all the daily rated workers.   

CPI (M) Secretary further brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary that EPF subscription of daily rated mazdoors and contract employees working in many departments are not being deducted despite requests by the Unions and employees concerned.
