Port Blair, Aug. 6: Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States (Tele-MANAS) initiative has been launched by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on the occasion of the World Mental Health Day i.e. on 10th October 2022. In view of this, a campaign on how to seek help through Tele-MANAS consultations and awareness of services of District Mental Health Units is being conducted at various places such as Panchayats, Schools, Colleges etc.

In this regard, outreach activities were conducted at DIET, Garacharma and DBRAIT. Dr. Satyajit Halder (State Nodal Officer – National Mental Health Programme), Dr. Rajeev Ghosh (DPHO) and Shri G Ashis Kumar (Social Worker – National Tobacco Control Programme), Smti Hemalatha (Clinical Psychologist - NMHP), educated and sensitized about the free tele-mental health services all over the country round the clock, particularly catering to people in remote or under-served areas.
