Diglipur, Aug 15: Joining the Nation, the rural Model Senior Secondary School at Sitanagar too celebrated the 77th Independence Day with fervor and gaiety. Around 500 students assembled in the morning and took out Prabhat Pheri from the school campus, making rounds of the village, shouting slogans and holding placards, transcending the messages of “Panch-Pran”, coined by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The villagers were welcoming the long procession of students, standing alongside the road. On their return, the National flag was hoisted. The Head of Institution administered the oath of ‘Panch-Pran’ to the staff, students and the villagers, which includes ‘Making India a developed country’, ‘Root out the traces of colonial mindset’, ‘Take Pride in our Heritage’, ‘To strive for National Unity’ and ‘To discharge duties honestly, keeping Nation first’.

The local veers from the village the Ex-Servicemen Shri Sumano Samadder and Shri Prakash Chandra Bepari were the special invitees on this occasion. They were felicitated for their marvelous services in the Indian Army. Addressing the students Shri Sumanto Samdder said after the supreme sacrifices of our freedom fighters we attained this freedom and our defence forces are committed to protect it. Calling himself a lucky person he said that it gives him a sense of satisfaction and pride that he had got the opportunity to serve the country as a soldier. Explaining the wide range of career options apart from NDA, in the defence forces, he called upon the students to opt for the best one as per their abilities.

The other special guest, the local veer Shri Prakash Chandra Bepari, an Ex-Army Personnel in his address said, the students in mainland are very excited to join the Army as ‘Agniveer’. Many batches of the recruited Army men are serving the Nation after passing out the training. Appreciating the Girls of the region for their talent in different fields, he said now the girls are also joining Armed forces and they have shown their mettle at their workplaces. They should also think of opting careers in the armed forces, Shri Bepari urged.

Expressing her feelings, Smti Priyanka, a young language teacher, said that the fifth Pran (Pledge) expects sincerity and honesty from every citizen of the country, whichever profession he or she is in. Dedicating our every endevour, keeping the Nation first would be an act of patriotism, she said. Tripti Kristiya Tirkey, a student of XII in her speech said that the students could feel the vibrant and positive atmosphere in the country, as we have achieved the remarkable 5th position, becoming the fastest growing economy in the world. The students are inspired to hear words from the Ex-Servicemen, she said.

The Selfie stand was a point of attraction for the children as they were seen taking selfies with the National flag. Melodious Patriotic songs and dances were worth watching and everyone enjoyed it. Senior teacher Smti Poonam Kumari coordinated the week-long Programmes under the “Meri Maati-Mera Desh '' campaign.
