Port Blair, Aug 16: The ‘AICF Chess For Everyone’ All-India FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2023 which began on 11th August 2023 Hotel TSG Grand, Dollygunj, Port Blair concluded on 15th Aug. 2023. The tournament was organised by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) under the aegis of All India Chess Federation (AICF), powered by TCI.
This is the first time, ANCA hosted an All-India level FIDE rating Chess Tournament and received an overwhelming response from the participants in which more than 150 Chess players from 15 different states of India participated in the five day’s event enthusiastically.
Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands had graced the occasion as the chief guest for the closing ceremony and gave the prizes to the winners.
Pradeep Tiwari of Defence Accounts Sports Control Board (DASCB) has clinched the winning trophy and cash prize while Meghna CH, Women FIDE Master (WFM) of Railways from Kerala secured second position. The third position was secured by Ajay Kumar Rai of DASCB whereas R Kashthuri Bhai from A&N Islands secured fourth position and Himanshu Moudgil of DASCB secured the fifth position. The top twenty players were awarded with trophies, certificates and cash prize of worth Rs. 1,25,000/-
Apart from open category, prizes were also given to different categories viz. below 1600 rating, below 1700 rating, below 1800 rating, under 13, under 11 under 9 and under 7 boys and girls.
