Port Blair, Aug 16: In a bid to address the challenges faced by students, patients and professionals from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in Bangalore city, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, urging for allocation of land for the construction of an ‘Andaman House’ in Bangalore.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, the Member of Parliament said that over the years, Bengaluru has emerged as a prominent educational, professional and healthcare hub for residents of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Recognizing the growing need for safe and affordable accommodations for Islanders in the city, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has appealed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister to allocate approximately 2000 square meters of land within the vicinity of a prominent metro station.

He mentioned that the proposed Andaman House will provide a secure and cost-effective solution for students, patients and professionals who frequently travel between the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Bangalore. “Currently, many individuals face challenges in finding temporary accommodations during festive seasons, examinations or when hostel facilities are closed. The Andaman House would bridge this gap, ensuring safety and convenience without the need for expensive lodgings,” he added.

Sharma emphasized that this initiative will not only support the well-being of Islanders but also strengthens the ties between Karnataka and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
