Port Blair, March 16: The two days ‘Kisan Mela’ on the theme ‘Promoting Natural Farming’ being organised by ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair along with its KVKs got underway with its inauguration by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS at its Mela ground at Garacharma Research Complex here this morning. The Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Agriculture/Fisheries), Smti Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Secretary (AH&VS/Fisheries), Shri B S Jaglan, IAS and officers/Scientists from CIARI, KVKs and line Departments were also present on the occasion.

Port Blair, March 16: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to remove all abandoned/discarded vessels from the Phoenix Bay jetty area.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the abandoned vessels in the Phoenix Bay Jetty area have not only become a source of sea pollution but also an eyesore for the local residents and tourists.

Port Blair, March 16: The Tourism Road Show organized by the Ministry of Tourism GoI in association with Andaman Association of Tour Operators got underway today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS inaugurated the Road Show as the chief guest at a function held in the conference hall of the Hotel TSG Emerald here this evening.

Port Blair, March 16: After a successful conduct of a planting workshop for the inmates of Old Age Home, Ferrargunj on 12th March 2023, Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi in association with ISMAT- a women’s initiative conducted yet another planting workshop for the inmates of Ullas Old Age Home for Women at #Bageecha – a step closer to nature. The workshop was ‘On Demand’ by the inmates and the NGOs along with philanthropists readily accepted to be a part of their joy.

Port Blair, March 16: The ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker on Thursday demanded to withdraw the order vide No. 642 issued by A&N Administration dated 13th March, 2023 for curtailment of Electricity in A & N Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Mr. Bhasker said "In this era of modernization and technological advancement, we are going back to the olden days where we used to have a limited supply of electricity. This has happened due to poor policy making of the Electricity Department and A&N Administration".
