Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Shri. N.C. Roy, aged 93 years, a respected resident of Swaraj Dweep and a senior political leader of these Islands.

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of BJP and Former State President of BJP-ANI, expresses deep sorrow at the passing of Shri N.C. Roy, aged 92 years, Ex-Pradhan and Senior BJP leader, R/o Swaraj Dweep. Shri Roy departed for the heavenly abode today, 19-05-2024. His contributions to the development of Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) Islands will be fondly remembered. Mr. Jolly extends his heartfelt condolences and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He also prays for strength to be granted to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Port Blair, May 17: Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) today led the islanders in paying rich tributes to Great Andamanese who were killed in the ‘Battle of Aberdeen’ fought on 17th May, 1859 between the British colonial rulers and the Great Andamanese.

Port Blair, May 17: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to repair and restore Chatham Bridge for Public Safety and Transportation Continuity.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament said that the Chatham Bridge serves as a lifeline for many residents, facilitating the daily commute of dozens of government and private buses, hundreds of other vehicles along with thousands of people. Its continued operation is critical for the economic and social well-being of our Islands.

Port Blair, May 17: The Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, EPF A & N Regional Office, Port Blair has asked the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A&N Islands to cover the daily rated mazdoors working under various Divisions of Forest Department under the EPF Scheme. Swiftly acting on a copy of the letter received from D. Ayyappan, President, Andaman & Nicobar Forest Department Workers Union (CITU), the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner in a letter dated 10th May 2024 addressed to the PCCF has stated that the Forest Department which appears coverable under the EPF & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 is not registered thereunder.
