Port Blair, July 18: Thunder storms, lightning & gusty wind (40-50) kmph is likely occur at one or two places over A&N Islands and heavy rain (7-11 cm) is also likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands on July 19 & 20.   Thunder storms, lightning & gusty wind (30-40) kmph likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Heavy rain (7-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands on July 21& 22.

Lt. Governor Reviews Arrangements for the Historic Inauguration

Port Blair, July 17: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency alongwith Shri Keshav Chandra, Chief Secretary and other senior Officers of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Andaman & Nicobar Police, Officers of Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) reviewed the arrangements for the historic inauguration of New Integrated Terminal Building of Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 18th July, 2023.

Port Blair, July 17: In continuation of fight against drugs, acting on a specific intelligence input, Police Team from Narcotics Cell, CID Unit consisting of SI Mohd. Rahil Islam, ASI Sanjay Yadav, Constable Ratan Das, Nandita Mistry, Vishal Kumar and M. Raja Rao under the supervision of Shri Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics intercepted one person namely D. Prem Kumar (25) yrs S/o Shri. D. Bogeshwar Rao, former Cargo Staff at Go Air R/o Brookshabad near Kamraj Senior Secondary School at VSI Airport, who had arrived at Port Blair from Kolkata on 16/07/2023 by flight. Total 3.564 Kgs of Ganja, which was clandestinely concealed in his bag, was seized from him and the said person was arrested on the spot observing all codal formalities.

Port Blair, July 17: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma held a crucial meeting with the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration on Friday, July 14, 2023 to discuss the urgent need for augmenting water supply in various parts of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The meeting focused on addressing the water scarcity issues faced by residents, particularly during the months of March, April and May.

Port Blair, July 17: In a historic move, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has approved enhancement of honorarium of Anganwadi worker(AWW)from Rs.9000/- to Rs.12000/- per month and from Rs.6000/- to Rs.8000/- per month for Anganwadi Helper(AWH) with effect from 01.07.2023. The total enhanced honorarium will be implemented with an additional outlay of Rs. 11.45 Crore from UT budget.
