Port Blair, June 13: The vessel M.V. Swaraj Dweep is expected to arrive at Port Blair on June 15 at 6 am from Chennai. She has on board 605 passengers, 8 infants and 7 containers of 105 MT cargo. On arrival the vessel will be berthed at Haddo Wharf and passengers will be disembarked immediately.

Bengaluru, June 10: The Assistant Chief of the Indian Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Nirbhay Bapna, Senior Defense Official and U.S. Defense Attaché Rear Admiral Michael Baker, and Christ University Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr. Jose CC inaugurated the “Partners in Progress” symposium jointly organized by Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, and Christ University, Bengaluru, with support from the U.S. Consulate General Chennai on Monday, June 10 in Bengaluru. East West Center Vice President Dr. Satu Limaye and the Former Indian Ambassador to the United States Mr. Arun Singh offered U.S. and Indian perspectives at the symposium’s plenary session.

Port Blair, June 12: Continuing with its effort to curb illegal activities in the District, the South Andaman District Administration has been keeping a strict vigil on such activities and owing to the vigilant field functionaries, case of illegal quarrying were noticed in the villages of Taylorabad and Bimblitan recently.

The District Administration taking punitive action has imposed heavy fine against the offenders involved in the illegal quarrying and the machinery used for the purpose were also seized.

Port Blair, June 11: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Andaman Avians Club, hosted a discussion session in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Environment Team (ANET) in Wandoor. The theme of the discussion was focused on *"Community Conservation and Generation Restoration."

During the first half of the program, Shri. Arun Singh, President of Andaman Avians Club, addressed everyone about the “Udhne do humein," project by Andaman Avians Club which aims to safeguard birds from illegal hunting by airgun. During the talk he also explained the ground reality and challenges faced by the club for the conservation of birds in the Islands. He explained the threat to endemic birds due to hunting by locals in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and emphasized the need to restrict the use of air guns to protect future generation.

Port Blair, June 12: The Chairman of ANTCC Campaign Committee Mr. TSG Bhasker has expressed his concern over the recurring problem of floods that have been causing widespread damage and destruction to the people of Diglipur and their livelihood from last 4 to 5 years.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary on Wednesday, Shri. TSG Bhasker firstly thanked the A&N Administration for taking immediate action and providing relief to the people affected with flood in Diglipur.
