U Kavitha Elected as the Chairperson for the First Year Term Starting from 16th March

Port Blair, March 16: The Lt. Governor (Administrator), Andaman and Nicobar Islands had appointed the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) under the provisions of sub-section (1) Section 197 of A&N (Municipal), Regulation, 1994 read with sub-section (1) of Section 14 of the said Regulation thereby authorizing him to convene a special meeting of the elected members and to preside over the said meeting for the purpose of administering oath of allegiance to all the newly elected members and thereafter to elect the Chairperson of the Council for the first year term and subsequently, administering Oath of Allegiance to the Office of the newly elected Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council.

The ANTCC President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has greeted all Islanders on the eve of Holi. In his message of felicitations, Halder said people should celebrate the festival of Holi with enthusiasm and happiness. The joyful celebrations of Holi signify the bonding between various sections of the people and truly reflect our Island's unity in diversity and multi-cultural heritage.

Port Blair, March 16: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to reopen the Hutbay Quarry as soon as possible so that quarry materials become easily available in Little Andaman Island for the development in the island. Opening up of quarry will also ensure employment for the local youth, he said.
