Car Nicobar, Sept. 26: A Physical Education Teacher posted at GSSS Malacca has been held by the Police on charges of molesting a group of school girls.

The untoward incident occurred yesterday 25th Sept. 2013 at Malacca Sr. Sec. School when the school examinations were on. It has been reported that the Post Graduate Teacher (Physical Education) one S. Sen had called atleast 7 girls out of their classroom on the excuse of frisking them before the exams.

Sources inform that S. Sen had ulterior intentions and in the process of frisking started molesting the girls. The matter was later informed to the village heads by the school children, which created a fury among the villagers of Kakana.  

Sources also report that the enraged villagers today surrounded the school, threatening to kill the teacher. Sensing the atmosphere prevailing, the concerned authorities of District Administration, Car Nicobar took the matter seriously. Latest report adds that an FIR U/s 354 IPC has been lodged against S. Sen at PS Car Nicobar and further investigations are on.

It is pertinent to mention that the said PGT (Physical Education) S Sen had joined the Malacca SSS hardly two months ago. Before this, he was posted in Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School for a short spell and based on similar complaints, was transferred to Car Nicobar.

Mayabunder, Sept. 25: The election for the post of Adhyaksh and Up Adhyaksh for Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman was held today. In the elections held, Shri Srinivasan, from Congress Party who stood as Independent Candidate against the Congress nominated Shri Anil Mondal candidate won the election for Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad. The election for the Up Adhyaksh was also won by a Congressman Shri Sony Thomas who contested against the Congress Party nominated candidate Shri S Panchavarnam.

Among the 16 members of Zilla Parishad, N&M Andaman, 14 were from Congress Party, while 2 are from Trinamool Congress and 2 from Bharatiya Janata Party. Today’s election wherein the Congressmen contested against the party nominated candidates appears to be a big blow on the party.

It is also learnt the in the election of the Chairman, Port Blair Municipal Council held on 23rd Sept. 2013, which is again dominated by the Congress Councillors, the Party had proposed the name of Shri Nair. But the results of the election came as a major shock to the party after Shri K Ganeshan, a Congress Councillor won the election against the party’s desire.

Car Nicobar, Sept. 24: Air Marshal PK Roy AVSM, VM, VSM, ADC Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command visited Air Force Station Carnicobar as Chief Guest from 21 to 23 Sep 13 on the occasion of its 21st Raising Day. He was accompanied by Air Cmde BV Upadhyay VM, Air Force Component Commander ANC.

Air Force Station Carnicobar, born as ‘No 1 Staging Post’ in  1956, was upgraded to a ‘Forward Base Support Unit’ on 23 Aug 86, to be re- designated as an Air Force Wing on 15 Sep 93. Gp Capt SS Bains VM, was the first Station Commander of this Wing. Presently the station is being commanded by Group Captain Sanjeev Vashishth VM, a veteran of Kargil Conflict in 1999.

The occasion was celebrated with gaiety and bonhomie over a period of two days. On 21 Sep 13, the CINCAN inaugurated a Surveillance Radar Squadron. The new Radar Squadron would help both civil and military aircraft for safe operations and enhance operational capability. He reviewed the inaugural ceremony of the Inter Unit Sports Meet 2013 in the evening. The ceremony was marked by an impressive march past by the participating teams followed by a nail biting exhibition volleyball match and an entertaining ‘Tug of War’ dual between the Warrant Officers / SNCOs and Air Warriors. The day culminated with a Social Evening organised in the Officers’ Mess.

On 22 Sep 13, the Chief Guest witnessed the grand finale of Hindi and English Debate Competitions which have been conducted over a period of last seven days. This was followed by a display of the top five posters made by the Air Warriors of the Wing on themes of ‘Aerospace Safety’ and ‘Information Technology’ respectively. The biggest attraction of the celebrations was the variety entertainment programme organised in the evening which brought talents comprising the Station personnel as well as children of local schools. The event concluded with a community dinner with all Station personnel.

Col Harmit Singh, Command PRO stated that visit of CINCAN on the occasion of the Station Anniversary proved to be a morale booster for the Station personnel. Raising Day celebrations are a part of military tradition and ethos and like always have enthused the feeling of pride and belonging amongst one and all.
