Port Blair, Jan. 1: With reference to Press Note published in the Daily Telegrams on 28.12.2023 intimating the time and venue for trade test for the post of Craft Instructor under Directorate of Social Welfare, all candidates have been informed that the Trade Certificates will also be verified at the Directorate of Social Welfare on 02.01.2024 upto 3 pm. The selected candidates have been requested to get their Trade Certificates verified without fail on the mentioned date and time.

08 Myanmar Poachers Apprehended, Intensive Combing Operation on for Remaining Poachers

Katchal, Dec. 31: In a swift and effective response to credible information received from local fishermen on 27/12/2023, an anti-poaching team, led by Sub-Inspector Subramani, SHO PS Katchal, conducted a successful operation at the West Bay area of Katchal Island.

The operation, which took place on the 28/12/2023, comprised of officers and personnel from Police Station Katchal, including HC Nitish Kumar and Buchendra Rao, PC Niraj Mondal, Sabraj Mohammed, Vinay Kumar Pandey, Sankar S. Aind, CT’s Mahadev Uraon, Sandeep Kumar. Police team reached the West Bay area on foot and meticulously searched potential hideouts. The team observed suspicious movement within the jungle and promptly surrounded the area. When asked to surrender, the suspected foreign poachers attempted to flee.

Port Blair, Dec. 31: The commemoration of 80th Flag Hoisting at Port Blair by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was observed today. At a solemn function held at Flag Point, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) hoisted the National Tricolor at Flag Point today. The Chief Secretary (I/C), A&N Administration, Shri Nikhil Kumar, PCCF, Dr. T S Ashok Kumar, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Chairperson, PBMC, Smt. S Selvi, senior Officers of the Administration and general public were present on the occasion. 

Port Blair, Dec. 31: CPI (M) has demanded immediate posting of specialist doctors and supporting staff to the CHC, Diglipur.  In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee, referring to his recent visit to Diglipur, brought to the notice of the Administration that, at present, no specialist doctor is posted at CHC Diglipur.  Due to non-availability of Gynaecologist in the CHC Diglipur, pregnant women requiring specialist check-up are referred to Port Blair. Due to pathetic condition of the NH4/ATR, patient cannot be taken to Port Blair by road and has to wait for proper ship having cabin facility.
