Port Blair, Feb. 18: In theSemi Final matches of ‘State Open Arpan Rolling Cup Volley Ball Championship – 2013’ held on 16th and 17th Feb’13, Bihar Territorial Army and A&N Police teams qualified for the final match scheduled to be held on 20/2/13 at 7pm. In an exciting semi final match between Bihar (TA) & YFC Haddo, which went on to the fourth set, Bihar (TA) won the match by 32-30, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-21.

The second semi final was an easy win for A&N Police beating Phoenix Trance Club by 25-18, 25-10 and 25-22.

The final match of the tournament between A&N Police and Bihar Territorial Army is expected to be even more exciting with both the team captains vowing to win the Cup. Cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- for the winner and Rs. 7,500/- for the runner will be given apart from many more prizes.

The final match will be graced by Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, ANTCC as Chief Guest which will be played at Forest Ground, Tushnabad on 20/2/13 at 7pm.

The tournament is being organized in association with Youth Club Ograbraj under the aegis of All A&N State Volleyball association”.

 

Port Blair, Feb. 18: Amodernized branch of A&N State Cooperative Bank Ltd. was inaugurated on Sunday, 17th Feb. 2013 by the Chairman National Federation of State Cooperative Bank Ltd, Mumbai, Dr. Bijender Singh.  

Dr. Bijender Singh in his address on the occasion recorded his appreciation on the working of the bank under the Chairman, Shri Bhagat Singh. The visiting team also visited the counters and other infrastructures to be used by the Bank.

Shri Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, President, NCUI and Shri R C Choubey, Chairman, Bihar State Coop Bank and Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, special invitee from Patna also witnessed the inaugural ceremony of the new branch of the Bank and its ATM. Port Blair, Feb. 17:  Bye elections to fill up the vacancies in Panchayati Raj Institutions were held today (17-02-2013) from 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs. Elections were held for the Gram Panchayat Member Constituency of Lucknow-1 of Rampur Gram Panchayat under Mayabunder Tehsil and Gram Panchayat Member Constituency of Long Island-7 of Long Island Gram Panchayat under Rangat Tehsil. The entire polling process was held in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

Port Blair, Feb. 17: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has sanctioned one lakh fifty thousand rupees from LG’s Relief Fund for the treatment of Shri T. Appa Rao in mainland. Shri Appa Rao, aged 43 years, is a case of Carcinoma Cheek with Skin involvement was admitted for Surgery (Cheek Resection + Manibulectomy + Radical Neck Dissection + PMMC Flap) and is undergoing treatment in mainland. LG inaugurates NAFSCOB Board of Directors Conference

Port Blair, Feb. 17: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM today inaugurated the Board of Directors Conference of the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks Ltd. (NAFSCOB), Mumbai at a function held at the conference hall of Sea Princess Resort, Wandoor.

Port Blair, Feb. 17: The PCC President Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor to consider upgradation of Govt. Sec. School CFO Nallah at Betapur. Explaining the need for upgradation, Sharma said that after passing Class Xth, the students of this school are forced to travel upto 30 Kms at GSSS Sabari for further education. Moreover, due to heavy rush in GSSS Sabari and other schools in the area, many students are not able to get admission.
